Amidst the fascinating tropical vegetation of the mountain-rainforest, with its perennial mild climate, lie the bungalows nestled between eucalyptus, banana trees and blooming exotic plants. Numerous animal species guide to sleep underneath a starry sky, alongside the tender chirr of the crickets together with the laughing of the bush babies to wake up from the unique tunes from the hornbill and the screech of the black monkeys.
The terrace is the ideal place for events and a popular place for meetings held by yoga-groups from all over the world. Its upscale lay, above the river valley, offers a direct view to the nearby Kibo.
The lodge is situated at a height of 1300m on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro and it is just a few minutes away from Machame Gate, the entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park.
The small bustling town of Moshi which is roughly 20km from the lodge can be reached easily thanks to the good tarmac roads.

Our ten cosy bungalows are set in a verdant, flowering garden, with wonderful views at sunset up towards Kilimanjaro’s cloud-ringed summit.
The rooms themselves are constructed in Bauhaus style, with their minimalist design providing a striking contrast to the abundance of the surrounding nature while offering European standards of comfort. Among the amenities on offer are floor-to-ceiling windows, eucalyptus wood furnishings and free Wifi access.

Day Trips
Our day trips, all of which start and end at Kaliwa, are an ideal way to begin your exploration of northern Tanzania. Go on safari in Arusha Natioanl Park, take a walk on the wild side on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, visit a coffee plantation, get to know Moshi town, or jump into nearby hot springs. We have experienced almost every corner of the Machame area in which we are located, and can introduce you to our neighbouring communities on short walks or longer hikes.
